Giving takes many forms at Wesley United Church.

Of course there is the traditional way of giving that happens when the offering plate is passed each week.  Everyone is invited to give an offering to the General Fund and the Trustee Fund to help maintain the ministry of the congregation, minister and building. This is also an opportunity to give to the Mission and Service Fund of the United Church of Canada which supports outreach work in Canada and overseas with our partners around the world.

Another way we give at Wesley is through our gifts to the NDG Food Depot.  Every week we collect non-perishable food for the local food bank and folks are invited to share what they can.

From time to time there are special appeals for special causes or projects.  Most recently that came in the form of an appeal for the Chancel Painting Project that was completed last May.

Giving does involve money, but it also involves sharing our time and our talents.  People at Wesley offer their time and talents in many ways. Teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, reading scripture, serving on boards and committees, preparing and serving refreshments each week, and maintaining the building and grounds of the church are just some of the ways people give of themselves at Wesley.

No matter if it is time, talent or treasure that is offered, we acknowledge that every gift is important.  When you give a gift of money, you can rely on a tax receipt at the end of the year.  To make that easier, we offer envelopes to help with the accounting.  Another option is PAR – Pre-Authorized Remittance – where a pre-determined gift is transferred from your account to the church’s each month. If you would like to have your own set of envelopes or want to set up giving with PAR, please let our minister know and she will connect you with our treasurer.

We are not able to give a tax receipt for the gift of your time or your talent, but we are just as grateful for the abundance that you share with us.
